Think about this.
They were needed those days when everything was done manually. Today everything like payroll processing, benefits, vacationreact are all automated and outsourced to specialist service providers like ADP.

HR does not make any money for the company. It's the engineers, sales people, marketing guys, IT people etc who creates products and services that make money for the company. In fact HR is an expense .

I agree they may be required for certain functions. But in reality HR is overhyped and given so much importance like Demi gods in an organization and rest of the guys who really matter to the company are at the mercy of them.

It is very unfair in my opinion.
