Yin Yang are not opposing forces (dualities), but complementary opposites, the Yin represents everything unseen and hidden, while the Yang respresents everything seen and manifest.
In the case of the atom, the electron represents the Yang (seen) while the Proton represents the Yin (unseen).
While the electron's mass is many times smaller than the proton, scientists had no problem filming the electron and measuring its radius:

On the otherhand, scientists are now saying this about the proton:
Latest experiments show that a proton is made of three smaller particles called quarks. Quarks have a size too small to measure. They may have no size at all. These three quarks spin around each other very quickly. In reality, a proton does not have a radius. [ link to www.newton.dep.anl.gov]
The best way to illustrate the relationship between the Father (Yin Yang), the Son (Yang), and the Holy Spirit (Yin), is through the Venn diagram:

The Father, or the Yin Yang, is the intersection of the Yin and Yang!
Thus, while a part of the Yin can exist on its own, and a part of the Yang can exist on its own, there are parts of the Yin and the Yang that are joined together, and this joined part is called the Yin Yang.
So is the Father, God? Yes.
Is the Son, God? Yes.
Is the Holy Spirit, God? Yes.
Is the Father greater than the Son and the Holy Spirit? If by greater is meant complete, then the answer is: Yes!
The original Adam (which was androgynous) represents the Father or the Yin Yang.
After Eve was taken from one of Adam's ribs, the separated Adam represents the Son or the Yang, while Eve represents the Holy Spirit or the Yin.
And this is the reason why God said Man was created in "their" image:
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
