Devaluation of the U.S. dollar will lead to its collapse. This will lead to starvation and demonstrations. Agents of 'secret combinations' will ensure these demonstrations turn into riots. Federalized police will fire on crowds and this event will cause average citizens to riot in most major American cities. Martial law will be declared and the Feds will attempt to outlaw private ownership of firearms. This will be the final catalyst that will signal the beginning of the 2nd American Civil War, except the sides will not be North vs. South but those in favor of liberty and personal freedom as guaranteed by the Constitution, against an increasingly oppressive/totalitarian and out of control Federal government with roughly half of the country behind it out of neccessity, as they are largely dependent on government for their survival.
During this time of internal strife, Russia will attack the U.S. mainland, hitting many major cities with nuclear weapons. A literal, physical invasion of the U.S. will begin immediately afterward. There will likely be elements of Chinese involvement/collusion with Russia.
The attack will occur after the election of a new president but before the inauguration of the new president. If we are to believe the "Greek president" theory, as explained below, then it would occur sometime after November's elections, as Obama is the first president "not of British or northern European ancestry".
The possibility also exists that Obama is re-elected in 2012, and this would occur sometime after the 2016 elections, but while Obama is still president before the next president can be sworn in.
The prophecy of the total devastation of the state of Missouri and part of Iowa is consistent with multiple nuclear strikes to take out our strategic missile silos.
In direct opposition to the contemporary Christian belief in a pre-tribulation rapture, it is also clear in the teachings of the Mormon prophets that the Saints (Mormons), as well as all devout believers of all faiths, will not be specially protected from these events, although the Spirit will direct those to safety as they are willing to hear - both Mormons and non-Mormons. All must bear witness to these things.
Also interesting is that this seems to line up with the events in the vision of George Washington (General at the time of the vision, and eventually the 1st president of the United States). Google this, very interesting reading.
If Romney does indeed win the election there very well could be some fireworks before the inauguration. One wonders if agreements are already in place for Russia since Obama "will have more flexibility after his re-election." Unless he is NOT re-elected and Russia is in fear of what the new President Romney might become aware of, and do what is necessary to stop it. In other words "strike now before the U.S. policy and military capability gets stronger". This makes further sense, as President-elect Romney would not yet have time to put together his future cabinet (which includes Defense Secretary). It is also interesting to note that a time of a prophesied nuclear attack against American happens at a time when many Americans are at home, as if some sort of major national holiday. Think Thanksgiving - only a few weeks after the election.
This scenario gets even scarier. I did some further research on various Mormon prophecies specifically related the the USA. Apparently the idea of a nuclear conflict has been mentioned by several Mormon prophets. Also, that the attack would come suddenly from the ocean and gulf, apparently from submarines, and we would think we had immediately lost the war because it will take us totally and completely by surprise. It also seems this will occur around a large, very important holiday when most Americans are home and with their family (see 'Thanksgiving' above).
Think about this. If in fact Romney is elected, my guess is around Thanksgiving of THIS YEAR. Makes sense, as it's only weeks after the election and does not give the new President Romney much time to get his cabinet or military leaders in place. Also gives President Obama quite a lot of 'emergency power' in the crisis.
Sometime after the attacks the invasion begins and it becomes apparent that they are not peacekeepers, but are intent on possessing the lands of America. At this time the people of America will rally together, forgetting the differences from one another and swear by the blood of their forefathers that the land shall not be divided.
It is unclear in my studies of these prophecies whether the attacks cause the collapse of the government, or the government being very near collapse is what convinces Russia to attack.
Scary stuff, interesting, but above all else, this scenario actually makes so much sense that I could see this happening.
Other prophecies by various Mormon leaders worth taking a look at:
1. SECOND CIVIL WAR. Many presidents (a.k.a: PROPHETS, if you will) of the Mormon church have prophesied of a future time when the United States would suffer a second Civil War. Melding together aspects of several different 'prophecies', it appears that an invading foreign power coupled with great internal strife will lead to an inevitable civil war; one that will pit "neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed". This seems interesting to me in light of the vision of George Washington, the first President of the United States (google this). He had a vision, which he had transcribed, that gave him a 'history' of sorts of the future of the United States that included the first Civil War and a second period of struggle that involved a union of various countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa; a "dark, red light that moved in huge hordes by sea" to the American continent and "devastate the whole country". This actual, physical invasion of the United States was beaten back in his vision by 'angels', who bore the national standard (the Stars and Stripes).
2. THIRD WORLD WAR. Many 'prophets' of the Mormon church have stated that terrible, destructive wars are on the way at some point in America's future. Perhaps the most chilling and pertinent to the events of today is the vision of George Albert Smith, who was president/prophet of the Mormon Church when the dissertation of this prophecy was given in 1946. Some of the major points of this prophecy were:
a. U.S. would have missiles in the ground 'like grain silos'. The U.S. would also have missiles in Europe, which the U.S. would withdraw to appease Russia, then the war would begin.
b. Soviet Union (Russia) would hit these sites and destroy some cities.
c. The President of the United States, at the time of this future war, would be the first U.S. President not of "British or Northern European ancestry". This could well mean that Obama is still in office at the time of the attack, EVEN IF he is defeated in the elections.
d. The U.S. would be entangled by alliances with other nations, and would take away weapons owned by the people.
e. One tactic specifically in Europe would be to hide military equipment in tractor-trailers and by rail.
f. The aftermath would be worse than the Great Depression (which he lived through), and would make the conflict just finished (World War II) look like a 'training exercise'.
The interesting thing about this particular 'prophecy' is that at the time of the vision (1947), the United States and Soviet Union were allies. Also, at that time, the idea of "missiles" that could carry a nuclear payload was unfathomable. In fact, the president of M.I.T. said in 1950 that "Intercontinental missiles with nuclear warheads are impossible".
3. PERIOD OF RESTORATION OF A CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT UPON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT. President/Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith (not the original Joseph Smith) as well as Ezra Taft Benson, more recently, specifically stated that the "Elders of Israel", or Mormons, AS WELL AS FREEDOM LOVING PEOPLE OF OTHER FAITHS AND NON-FAITHS, would step forth and save the Constitution. Some of the basic points of the prophecies regarding the "Constitution hanging by a thread" and the role of the Mormon church (more specifically, I think, at the time these things will happen, the membership) in preserving the Constitution:
a. The government of the United States will collapse, either as a result of internal strife and invasion or these will occur as a result of governmental collapse.
b. Members of the Mormon church (calling themselves 'saints' as they currently do) will gather in several places in large numbers, primarily for reasons of safety once these horrible events begin to transpire. Most notable of these places is somewhere 'in the Rocky Mountains'. They will be joined by many people who are not of the Mormon faith, who wish to gather with them for means of safety and brotherhood/fellowship, as the unity of these communities will be extremely apparent.
c. As a means of governing such a large populace, these 'survivor communities' will adopt the U.S. Constitution, IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM (meaning, the original document and the Bill of Rights) as a standard for governance. There will not only be Mormons in these communities, but members of many other faiths and non-faiths, who are good and willing people who seek safety and peace in terrible times. Many people of all faiths, backgrounds, colors, etc. will declare themselves in favor of this form of governance and order, and will ally themselves with these peoples. It is concievable that amendments will be made to the 'original' Bill of Rights guaranteeing freedom, liberty, and equal rights for all regardless of gender or color, much like has been done already.
d. The 'roving bands' who will prey on all they come across will keep their distance from these communities, presumably because they will be well organized and also well-armed.
e. What is left of the United States Army (which we assume encompassed all branches of the military), engaged in repelling the invading foreign soldiers (Russian AND Chinese), will be very nearly defeated; with roughly HALF of the Army having given up, taken prisoner, or deserted. At some pivotal point, the "Boys from the Mountains" (the 'Mormon' settlements) will come to their aid, and the remnant of the U.S. Army will "rally round" and ultimately defeat the invading forces here in America with 'divine/supernatural help'. There is no reference to exactly what kind of 'divine help' this will be.
Contrary to what some have said, it should be noted that the Mormon church/religion/members/etc. have NO INTENTION of taking over the government of the United States of America, as I have read many people state that this is the "plan" of the Church; This is blatantly FALSE...in fact, the entire spectrum of action on the part of Mormons in any capacity is on the RESTORATION OF ORDER, and the guarantees of civil liberties as outlined in the Bill of Rights. When the government of the United States collapses, there is no 'enforcer/guarantor' of your civil rights; those who are willing to come under the governance of these communities will be subject to and protected by CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY. The Constitution is not a document only for the United States of America; but is in fact a DIVINELY INSPIRED DOCUMENT by 'men whom God raised up to that task' that applies to ALL MEN, in ALL PLACES. The Constitution belongs to all people, NOT to any government, and certainly not the Mormon church or its' members.
Here are other prophecies and statements concerning our current times:
JOSEPH SMITH: "The Turkish Empire of the Crescent will be the first power to be disputed, for freedom must be given for the Gospel to be preached in the Holy Land. The Lord took of the best blood of the nations and planted them on the small islands now called England and Great Britain and gave them power in the nations for a thousand years and their power will continue with them that they may keep the balance of power; and they will keep Russia from sweeping her power over the world. England and France are now bitter enemies but they will be allied together and be united to keep Russia from conquering the world.
"The two popes, Greek and Catholic, will eventually come together in their decline and be united. The Protestant Religions do not know how much they are indebted to Henry VIII for throwing off the Pope’s bill and establishing the Protestant faith. He was the only monarch who could do so at that time and he did it because the nation was at his back to sustain him. One of the peculiar features in England is the established Red-coat; a uniform making so remarkable a target to shoot at, and yet they have conquered wherever they have gone. The reason for this will be known to them some day as red is seen in a different color threading through under all history. The lion and the unicorn of England comes from there being so much blood of Israel in the nation."
JOSEPH SMITH: “The time will come when the banks of every nation will fall and only two places will be safe where people can deposit their gold and treasure. This place will be the White Horse (The Rocky Mountain settlements) and England’s vaults. A terrible revolution will take place in the land of America, such as has never been seen before; for the land will be left without a Supreme Government, and every species of wickedness will be practiced rampantly in the land. Father will be against son and son against father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother. The most terrible scenes of bloodshed, murder and rape that have ever been imagined or looked upon will take place. People will be taken from the earth (I have NO idea what this means - FEMA camps? ALIEN INVASION? Mormons do in fact believe in other worlds) and there will be peace and love only in the Rocky Mountains. This will cause many hundreds of thousands of the honest in heart of the world to gather there, not because they would be Saints (Mormons), but for safety and because they will be so numerous that you will be in danger of famine, but not for want of seed, time and harvest, but because of so many to be fed.”
There is also a prophecy that the Great Lakes would empty into the Gulf of Mexico, creating a division of land masses in the continental United States that would literally split the country in two. We've all heard of the Edgar Cayce prophecy that says this as well, but Joseph Smith prophecied this in the 1830's or 1840's. Doesn't this sound very believable with all of the stuff going on with the BP incident and the activity in Assumption Parish and all along the New Madrid fault system?
Also there is a prophecy is of a 'grand sign', or the 'harbinger of the coming of the Son of Man', that would signal the imminent (how close, ??) return of Jesus Christ. This sign would be seen by 'all flesh' (everyone on the earth) and it would be dismissed by many as a "planet, a comet" and Joseph Smith himself said that "many would suppose it to be two great comets colliding together" and would start out small in the heavens and gradually grow larger until it would be easily seen by all on the earth.”
JOSEPH SMITH: "The United States will spend her strength and means warring in foreign lands until the other nations will say, "Let us divide up the lands of the United States" . Then the people of the U.S. will unite and swear by the blood of their forefathers that the land shall not be divided. Then, the country will go to war, and they will fight until one half of the U.S. Army will give up, and the rest will continue to struggle. They will keep on until they are very ragged and discouraged, and almost ready to give up - when the Boys from the Mountains will rush forth in time to save the American Army from defeat and ruin. And they will say, "Brethren we are glad you have come; give us men, henceforth, who can talk with God." Then you will have friends, but you will save the country when its liberty hangs by a thread, as it were."
Brigham Young: "The Lord will open the earth and swallow up such cities and New York, Boston, Philadelphia and other great cities of the nations; and the sea will heave beyond its bounds (tsumani? ) and famine will spread; not only over this continent. And the Saints (mormons) will close their eyes upon the scene and their hearts will be filled with great pain." - July 15, 1860. Remember all of the East Coast earthquakes recently?
JOSEPH SMITH: “A time is coming when the great and populous city of New York, the greatest city of the American Republic, will be left without inhabitants. The houses will stand, some of them, not at all. They will stand there, but unoccupied, no people to inherit them. It will be the same in regard to numerous other cities, or in the words of the Lord, "I will throw down all their strongholds, and I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard", It will all be fullfilled, but there will be a remnant who will be spared. It will be those who repent of their sins; it will be those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and are willing to obey his commandments, willing to hearken to his voice, willing to be baptized for the remission of their sins, willing to be born of the spirit, or receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, willing to walk uprightly and honestly with all men, and justly with one another".
