Original Message The only intelligent solution to this ongoing problem of mental defects randomly shooting is most certainly not gun control or even banning violent video games, although I wouldn't necessarily be against that.

What really needs to happen is a vast increase of involuntary commitment to sanitariums for those young people whose parents are too irresponsible to realize that their child is not a normal functioning member of society.

For this Lanza character, everybody who encountered him knew something was wrong but his flaky parents were either in denial or didn't care enough to get him the help he obviously needed.

It's cases like these where the government needs to step in and take away children to be institutionalized, possibly for life if they can't be reached out. In the old days, they would lobotomize crazy people like Lanza but now it's scientifically politically incorrect to do and we have to label these weirdos as having "Aspergers."

Why can't it just be like the old days where they were (properly) labeled defects and sent away to the funny farm for the rest of their wretched existence?

Now, some may accuse me of being insensitive but I have familial experience in this matter.

When I was in my youth, one of my cousins was a mongoloid. Now, of course, my aunt wanted to keep him but my uncle, being a responsible citizen, sent him away as a child knowing that he would only be a problem.

There's a reason why, back in previous generations, everybody owned guns but mass shootings rarely happened. In those days, the crazy people were rightfully locked up before they had a chance to hurt anybody else.
