[quote:Anonymous Coward 42614339:MV8yMjgwMzA2XzM4NzkzNzExXzgzNEI3MUU=] [quote:Anonymous Coward 42696565:MV8yMjgwMzA2XzM4NzkzMDk2XzVCQzZCRTMw] Islamic scholars generally forbid Muslim women from marrying non-Muslim men. This prohibition serves to preserve the Islamic faith from dilution and expand it, within societies which are patriarchal but multi-faith. It effectively ensures that over many generations, providing that the society is patriarchal, Islam would naturally gain in adherents relative to other co-existing religions, through its ability to secure the adherence of all offspring from mixed marriages. In effect, all children of any mixed-marriages involving Muslims are guaranteed to be raised as Muslim.[7] This systemic method of expanding the Muslim community in any multi-religious society is assisted by the ability for Muslim men to marry more than one non-Muslim wife (a possibility usually not available to non-Muslim men) and therefore secure all of their offspring for the Islamic faith - provided that the society is sufficiently patriarchal that the husband can have the final say on the children's religion. [8][9] There also exists a minority view that does permit convert women to remain with non-Muslim spouses as an exception to the general rule [10]. And this n Islamic law, if a non-Muslim woman is married to a non-Muslim, and she converts to Islam, the marriage is suspended until her husband converts to Islam. She could, in theory, leave the non-Muslim husband and marry a Muslim one (analogous to the Pauline privilege among Catholics). If the non-Muslim husband does convert a new marriage is not needed. In the Quran, it is said, O ye who believe! When there come to you believing women refugees, examine (and test) them: Allah knows best as to their Faith: if ye ascertain that they are Believers, then send them not back to the Unbelievers. They are not lawful (wives) for the Unbelievers, nor are the (Unbelievers) lawful (husbands) for them. But pay the Unbelievers what they have spent (on their dower), and there will be no blame on you if ye marry them on payment of their dower to them. But hold not to the guardianship of unbelieving women: ask for what ye have spent on their dowers, and let the (Unbelievers) ask for what they have spent (on the dowers of women who come over to you). Such is the command of Allah. He judges (with justice) between you. And Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom. {Surah 60:10} Not my scholars sorry. I don't subscribe to any major religion.
First of all : islam is preserved by god. Mixed marriages would not destroy islam. I'm sure that even if the whole world stood against it, islam will still be preserved. Children are affected by their mothers more. What about a disbelieving mom ? wouldn't she also cause division in faith, as you have described it ? About the suspension, that is with "pagans", it is also forced on men. A man who believes would also suspend his marriage. The verse I quoted above is very clear on this matter. About the verse you quoted ; it also proves what I just said above. a muslim woman should divorce her pagan husband, a muslim man should also divorce his pagan wife. Again ; Quran wise, nothing supports the theory you copied, which muslim scholars believe in. Yes, muslims -men & women- are prohibited to marry pagans, atheists, or any person who worships more than one god -including christians who believe in such ideas-. But marrying a jew or a christian, who also prays for god, believes that god is one & only ? nothing prohibits that. A muslim man who marries a pagan woman or an atheist woman is just lying to himself ; he's just denying the word of god.
Channel 4 is to broadcast the Muslim call to prayer during Ramadan this year, it revealed yesterday. It is believed to be the first time a mainstream British television channel has broadcast the Islamic call to prayer.
Starting next week, the broadcaster will transmit the morning call to prayer daily for the 30 days of Ramadan.
