[quote:Anonymous Coward 44861760:MV8yMzI4NjE1XzM5NzI2OTg1X0IxQTlFRTFF] Willis was called "Bac guai" [which] is often used as a pejorative term to describe white people in the Chinese dialect of Cantonese. Willis lost both his mother and older brother as a teenager, according to his defense attorney, Jeffrey Denner. He was homeless until a local Chinese family took him in as one of their own. They taught him to speak Chinese (both Cantonese and Toisanese dialects) and Vietnamese — language skills that helped a white man navigate Chinatown's immigrant enclave and gain access to its organized gangs. http://www.npr.org/blogs/codeswitch/2013/08/16/201288466/white-man-rises-up-ranks-of-asian-gang-in-boston You can't make this shit up. The white leader of an Asian organized crime group based in Boston’s Chinatown was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison Thursday on drug trafficking and money laundering charges, Boston U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz announced.
John Willis was a leader in the Ping On gang, a Chinese criminal organization whose reach spanned from Boston’s Chinatown to Florida, New York, Rhode Island and South Carolina, Ortiz said. Ping On members trafficked thousands of oxycodone pills worth approximately $4 million.
[They were also heavily involved in prostitution, ecstasy trafficking, etc.]

Willis was a white kid who grew up in a working class Boston neighborhood. He was adopted by a Chinese family involved in organized crime, learned Chinese and Chinese culture, and became head of this gang.
