[quote:Cowardly Anonymous 1508631:MV8yMzg3ODIwX0YzMkIwMzg3] You know all of these threads we keep seeing about the object visible in the western sky? We finally had a clear night tonight, and I was able to take some pictures. I don't have a telescope, so this was the best I could do: http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0179.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0180.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0181.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0182.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0183.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0185.JPG http://download.johncoltharp.com/images/743872/IMG_0188.JPG This object is visible just above the western horizon, right after sunset, but it disappears behind the horizon after only 30 minutes. It's not Venus. Venus dominates the sky a little later, in an entirely different location, and is white instead of orange. It's not Mars. Mars doesn't show up until closer to morning. [/quote]
