[quote:Simple27:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzcxMzA1Njg2XzVBMTE3MkY3] [quote:KickinIt:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzcxMzA0MzgzXzk0MEMyM0Y2] I watched this last night - it's a PBS show called We'll Meet Again. It's a great show if you've never seen it. This episode was about 2 different people who survived the 1964 Alaska earthquake as kids. Each has his/her own story about the EQ experience, and they both are looking to reunite with childhood friends who they were separated from after the quake, when nearly everyone from their destroyed town had to flee immediately because there were no resources and almost all homes crumbled. They abruptly lost touch with their neighbors and friends and, in those days, didn't really have a way to find each other. I think you all will really like it. Their stories are so detailed, you feel like you were right there with them. Their descriptions really tell you how powerful that quake was. And the aftermath, too, which was even more interesting to me. Things you don't think about - like these people as kids who were ripped from the only life they knew in those few minutes, and how the abrupt separation from that life and the people in it affected them for a lifetime, not being able to say goodbye. I highly recommend you bookmark the link below for later, it's the complete episode. https://www.pbssocal.org/programs/well-meet-again/great-alaskan-earthquake-z53ouv/
Thank you for sharing this and for the description! I'm definitely saving this one if I can't watch it tonight. :hf:
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.
5* and I'm on board.. Simple.. I'm sorry about CH.. He will be missed greatly..

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
