[quote:Simple27:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzcyMzY3NjQ3Xzk1MDIyQURC] A Surprisingly Active Sun: Solar Storm Forecast 03-14-2019 Space Weather picks up this week as we await some fast solar wind from a coronal hole to hit Earth. We have already felt the effects from two mini-solarstorms that have hit Earth over the past couple of days, bringing aurora as far south as Michigan and as far north as New Zealand. This storm isn't expected to be very strong but it could bring aurora down to mid-latitudes again for a short while. If the storm is weak, however, it could serve to give amateur and shortwave radio propagation a much needed boost, especially on Earth's nightside. Now that rogue sunspot 2734 has rotated to the Sun's backside, we are again staring at a spotless Sun, which means GPS reception should be good, but radio propagation on Earth's dayside could drop back into poor conditions by the weekend. Learn the details of this coming solar storm, catch up on aurora photos from recent solar storms, and see what else our Sun has in store this week. I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
