It's a lunar eclipse—visible from all parts of the USA. http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2014/18sep_lunareclipse/
This is the 2nd of the 4-Blood-Moons
I'm thinking I need to go pick up that camera I've been saying I should get before October 8th. And then there's 2 more after that? Yes, yes I will be making a camera purchase in the very near future. I'll have to do a little research to find a good one that's not thousands of dollars though. My sister has an amazing camera that her fiance got her for Christmas a couple years ago. That one was thousands of dollars. But she is not a sky-tard like her big sister. ;-) :hf:
If I remember right, the first two were the best for the Americas to see, the 2nd two will be best for the middle east to see. You will want that camera before the 8th!!
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
