Well I guess no escalated quake activity yet huh? Night's still young...
Hi CS! Hopefully it won't escalate. :\ I would never want to see that. :hugs:
Hopefully not. Me neither. Those 4.0 quakes this morning all in succession were soooooooo weird though... And the 4.0 that hit San Francisco was, once again, on the Hayward Fault. :hiding: ABC 7 was reporting on TV when I got home and they're still saying that big one on the Hayward Fault can happen "any day now".
They've really been pushing that for the past month or so now. Like REALLY pushing it...daily. That whole West Coast area. Maybe they'll cause the GLP effect because they talk about it so much! :teehee:
Wow - daily? I didn't realize they were STILL pushing it daily. What's up with that? Anyway, re: GLP effect, maybe they're hoping they will cause that? :teehee:
Maybe not daily...that may have been an exaggeration, but maybe not. I'd have to seriously look. But it seems like every time I turn around I'm seeing something about it. For example: When the big one hits, whose voices will be heard? A short reflection on multilingual social media posts about the recent Bay Area earthquake and what that might mean for US disaster response https://medium.com/meedan-labs/when-the-big-one-hits-whose-voices-will-be-heard-3baf1fa4da7a Wake-up call from the Hayward Fault During a brief visit to California this week, I, along with a metroregionfull of people, was treated to a rattling little temblor from the Hayward Fault. The quick jolt struck conveniently just before everyone’s morning alarms went off, serving as a wakeup call for the day, and as this season’s broader “wakeup call” reminder that there are big active seams in the crust inching along around and below our cities. http://blogs.agu.org/tremblingearth/2015/08/17/wake-up-call-from-the-hayward-fault/ Washington tsunami shelter offers protection for students, residents Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides, Westport, Wash., would not be a great place to be if a tsunami was barreling towards the West Coast. If a major earthquake struck the Juan de Fuca fault line, the first waves would hit the town within 20 minutes. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/washington-tsunami-shelter-offers-protection-for-students-residents-1.3192231?cmp=rss And kinda creepy that this came out yesterday... Twenty Photos of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake On April 18th, 1906 at 5:12 in the morning, the coast of Northern California was hit by an earthquake that is considered to be the worst natural disaster in the state's history. The quake pre-dated the Richter scale measurement by thirty years; experts estimate the magnitude of the quake on the modern moment magnitude scale as anywhere from 7.8 to 8.25. http://www.neatorama.com/2015/08/16/Twenty-Photos-of-the-1906-San-Francisco-Earthquake/
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
