[quote:Anonymous Coward 34498761:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzU2NDcyNDU5X0M5RjQyOEE3] MOM & POP: Are we pushing Mother Nature too far? Since statehood, everything in Oklahoma has revolved around oil and gas. The energy business accounts for one in five jobs in the state, roughly 10 percent of its GDP. The tallest buildings are named for oil and gas companies, sports stadiums bear the names of energy firms and their billionaire founders, even the state capital sits atop a giant oil field. Energy makes or breaks Oklahoma, and right now it's breaking the state. In 2007, there was one earthquake, in 2015, there were 907! The quake of 2007 had a magnitude 3 - the lowest level at which they can usually be felt. Oklahoma now has more 3-plus earthquakes than California, and is now on pace to have magnitude - 4 quakes. No place in the world has had so many quakes at such a rate in such a short time! http://weymouth.wickedlocal.com/article/20160424/NEWS/160427758 :Dominoes:
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
