My daughter's 15 year old friend committed suicide yesterday. He shot himself. He was being bullied. : ( We just found out. Please pray for his family and friends. They are in so much pain right now. My daughter just talked to him on Tuesday. She said nothing seemed wrong with him at all. So heart breaking. This is a pic of my daughter and him from last summer. http://i.imgur.com/MkoDXm9.jpg His name is Bryce. :tissue: :heartbreak:
That is just awful. :( I'm so sorry to hear. Such a tragedy and bullying at the heart of it makes me so angry. As you know, I'm being bullied right now at work by my supervisor but I took matters into my own hands and turned it in to HR. So sad to see that he couldn't figure out a solution or that he felt that he could not tell anyone. :(
This! My mother and I said the same thing! It makes me so mad and just SO sad. So, so damn sad. And mad. Ugh! :gaah: [quote:WhiteAngel:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzU2ODMxMzcyX0Y5QTg0QzdE] Im so sorry for this. So thankful my daughter is done with school. There were times I feared for her well being. These were my unspoken prayer requests. She was so very bullied. One very jealous girl managed to make sure my daughter's high school years were a living hell. She told my daughter she would get revenge, and no one would ever know it was the bully's fault
Thank God your daughter was able to get through it. Children in high school don't have the tools us adults have for coping. Things are heavier for them than they are for us. I'm grateful that your daughter had the needed tools and made it through years of being bullied. That shit is no joke. I know you know that. I'm not telling you or anyone else that, I am just talking/typing out loud. So many kids have taken their own lives over bullying. It breaks my heart for those kids and infuriates me with the kids doing the bullying. That is NOT my style. I was the girl who stuck up for the 'nerds' or whatever term was being used (many much worse than nerds) at the time when kids were picking on/bullying others. That shit did NOT happen in front of me any more than the 2 seconds it took me to see that it was going on. I didn't silently stand by, or join in with the 'cool' kids egging it on. I stopped the shit. I spoke up. I saved one girls' ass in high school one day. In the girls' bathroom. She was literally about to get her ass kicked by 4 girls (for no damn reason other than JEALOUSY) when I walked into the bathroom. I was friends (shamefully) with the assholes that were about to beat up this girl. And I also knew the girl. I went to a small Catholic high school. Everyone knew who each other was. But friends of mine or not, I was stopping that BS. That it just 1 story of very many. [quote:finley:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzU2ODMxNTQ2X0QxNjVBNzE1] Oh I'm soo sorry to hear about Mini's friend. Suicide is such a hard hard thing on the family and friends left behind. Yes help Mini deal with it....you really are a good Mama. The grief cycle.....book on the feelings etc. She will be okay. I'm praying for you and mini and Bryce's family. The feelings come and go. Sorry again.
Thank you finley :hugs: [quote:Isis One:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzU2ODMxNTg2XzdERDBFODE5] So tragic, sending love and prayers to the family, you and mini also.
Thanks Isis :hugs:
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
