[quote:Simple27:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzYwOTgyMDA0XzFFQUFCRTU1] [quote:KickinIt:MV8yMzkxMDE5XzYwOTgxMTA5XzczNkMwNzMx] I spent the day at a friend's yesterday. His internet wasn't working and according to ATT could not be fixed for a day or two. His daughter, who is 7, could not grasp the concept of not having any internet. She kept coming in saying "Can I watch _____ on Netflix?", "Can I play my computer game", etc. etc. Every time, we would try to explain to her why she couldn't do any of those things. Granted, the internet and how it works isn't an easy concept for a kid to grasp, but I think the bigger obstacle was that she's never NOT had it, so the idea of it not being available, not being able to do all these things she wanted to do at a moment's notice, was impossible for her to imagine. She'd never had this happen before. I don't think she ever conceived it's something that can work or not work, to her it "just is", if that makes sense. I found the whole thing rather interesting! Of course, I chimed in with "This is what our entire childhood was like", and, "when we were your age, we had to read books and play outside". lol.
Seriously! Lol, I didn't have internet as a child. Shit, my parents didn't own a computer until AFTER I had graduated high school. :chuckle: My mini would lose her mind haha! It's a good punishment tool though.
I accidentally deleted the OP of this thread during some glitch issues on GLP this morning (10/30/17).
I will be posting some useful links in the next post to make it easier for those posting so you don't have to scroll through a massive OP. :)
I had to delete the first two comments on this thread to do so, but wanted to keep them so I've put them below.

I also would like to mention that I know this thread has MANY pages and that it can be somewhat intimidating to join/chime in on a long standing thread as a new member/AC (I've experienced it when I first joined GLP), but we are a VERY welcoming group to those who newly join us. We are a small family of sorts who are all mostly interested in the same earth-related topics (quakes/solar/volcanoes/weather/etc.) and share info on each of those topics as well as 'off-topic' discussions. We genuinely care for one another here and even when we do not agree with each other, we ALWAYS respect each other.
I truly enjoy when new folks join us here. All that I ask is to show respect. :)
