ok - so, a client owns a touristy shop here, and they do silk screening on t's and sweats too. I did a few keep calm things for them. Now they have asked me to do a SOA spoof, with cape breton theme. So last night i drew a pic. But i dont really know where spoofing ends and copyright infringement begins. They tried to teach us in college, but even the people teaching the copyright course seemed a little unsure of the grey areas.

it isnt finished yet. i will now vectorize it and add the cape breton elements. He will have the island in the ball, and the local flag waving behind him. He needs to be cleaned up a bit. too. I am not much of an artist, haha. So please no critique on how the skull doesnt look quite right.
so i know we probably dont have a lot of copyright experts here, but i thought with everyone making memes, and everything seeming to end up bastardized and on a tshirt, maybe someone out there has an opinion, advice, or precedent for me.
i am never comfortable with ripping off someone else.
