A Miami-Dade police officer shot and killed a dog in South Miami Tuesday afternoon, police said.

South Miami police said the shooting happened at 6440 SW 57 Place. The house was in an area west of South Dixie Highway and south of the University of Miami that is known to have drug related criminal activity.
