A giant asteroid will silently pass by Earth this week, writes National Geographic.
The asteroid will be three lunar distances away from Earth at its closest approach on Thursday, meaning there is no risk of impact with Earth.
Measuring about 1,067 feet (325 meters) wide, the asteroid has been nicknamed "the Beast", writes National Geographic.
The space rock, formally identified as HQ124, has an estimated width equal to an aircraft carrier.
Scientists did not notice its approach until April 23.
