Comet 67p is an incredibly dim periodic comet which you need an extremely powerful telescope to see.
I thought you might be be going for it with the itelescope.net telescopes, like you did with the asteroid. http://blogs.esa.int/rosetta/2014/06/13/the-role-of-amateur-astronomers-in-rosettas-mission/ K
I know the guy who shot those images in that video. It's something I'd like to do if I had more time available, but finding that asteroid depleted all of my reserves of itelescope time. They're only now starting to replenish, but it was worth it, even if it never got confirmation from other observers.
Sorry to hear you are low on telescope time and you didn't get that confirmation. I think I will have to find out about robotic telescopes, 9 out of ten days the weather is just too crap in the UK. I will probably start with the Bradford telescope. Here, you can find a new asteroid every coffee break http://www.asteroidzoo.org/#/classify and yes of course it's cheating ;) http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message2594891/pg1 K
Heh, it's all good, my time reserves are now back up to what they were. I like to have at least a couple hundred dollars of scope time ready to go at a moment's notice just in case I find something. iTelescope is very handy, and very top end. One of the members had his photo prominently published in Sky & Tel last month. Also, because of that whole thing with the asteroid/rosetta, I'm now part of the PACA group for 67P.
Original Message
I want to use this thread to highlight news from the Rosetta comet mission.
Ten years ago the European Space Agency ( ESA ) launched the Rosetta comet chaser to rendezvous with comet 67P, go into orbit around it and land a probe on its surface.

- There are
hundreds
thousands of images from Rosetta, this post will always point to the most recent NAVCAM or OSIRIS picture. Updated several times per week. ( Thanks F-BVFA )

When the Rosetta mission is complete we will know so much more about comets, their composition and formation. Comets have been a cause of fear and fascination throughout human history, within the next few months many long standing mysteries will be solved.
