Whatever the reason--

A lack of fiber in the diet and an excess of waiting between bowel movements can cause unnecessary pressure to be exerted when defecating.

This unnecessary pressure can cause undue strain on the lower GI sphincters, causing them to slough and/or protrude through the rectum. Such can include swollen lumps inside the rectum, or protruding through the anus.

Continued aggravation of the area may or will lead to bloody movements, or extreme pain during and after defecation.

If you experience a shooting or sharp pain when defecating, you may also be suffering from fissures-- which I would recommend seeing a professional immediately.

If you feel the only way you can defecate is by forcing the bowel out, you should consider an appointment with a Gastroenterologist immediately.

Original Message There's no way to sugar coat this, so I'll get to the point.

I was showering, and when I was cleaning "down there", I found a lump inside my asshole! It's about the size of a pea, and it wasn't there before. The past day or two, I felt a little sore down there, but I thought maybe it was just crusty and gross.

I know how this all sounds, but I'm serious and getting worried. Google gives tons of different answers on what it could be. Does anyone know what it is?

I don't have money or health insurance, otherwise I'd go to a doctor.
