A friend of mine was in a Chicago suburb hospital yesterday getting an X-Ray.
He joked with the person working the admissions desk that he "was Liberian". The man immediately shot back "that's not funny, there was a man standing exactly where you are standing 2 days ago, recently back from Liberia, with extreme flu-like symptoms. He was sent to Rush Hospital (downtown Chicago) for further testing".
My buddy, not having totally believed me in recent weeks when I told him there's a potential that the ebola czar simply implemented a media blackout, asks the man "does the news know about this?". The admissions agent replied "Oh god no".
Well, 5 minutes later the agent came up to my buddy and said "I just received word that the patient has tested negative for ebola" as if the agent knew he had fucked up and was trying to backtrack from his previous statements. What's the chance that this lowly ER admissions officer would be informed of some patient no longer at his hospitals status and especially within the 5 or 10 minutes after telling my friend about him?
Believe me or do not believe me. I was shocked when he told me too. But I do believe this is yet more evidence that ebola cases are still in this country and yet we are simply not hearing anything from the news due to the media blackout. Also, nurses have more than likely been forced to sign NDA's which not only make them at risk of losing their jobs should they blow the whistle but also opens them up to endless lawsuits which could leave them financially bankrupt.
Remember, it is possible to make people keep secrets if the penalty for not doing so is the end of your life as you know it.
Believe me, or do not believe me. I can offer no additional proof. But this definitely fits within the realm of possibilities.
