[quote:tk:MV8yNzMxOTBfNDc5MTQyNV9EQ0JFMDVGRA==] dude, do you have any idea how important ants are to the ecosystem? do not kill ants. they are a natural vaccuum system for your yard. i have black and red ants in my yard and have yet to see any in the house. i guarantee if you start killing them, other colonies will invade your house for revenge. i have seen this happen to other neighbors who had no ant infestations until they poured poison on them. if you have ants in the house, make a dilution of peppermint oil and water. spray this solution over the threshold of infiltration. ants will not cross it. as for them being outside, leave nature alone. and you call yourself green man???? A few days ago someone posted about Aspartame (Nutrisweet) being useful as an ant poison. I was intrigued, and tested. Here are my results:
I purchased a box of "NutraTaste" (house brand) sweetener. Ingredients: Destrose with Maltodextrin, Aspartame. This was a box of 120 packets of sweetener, for two bucks or so.
The ants have been running amok in the yard this summer, so active ant hills were easy to find. I selected one with lots of activity, including a thick stream of ants travelling to some other hill somewhere else. These are small, black ants.
I moistened the ground with about an ounce of water, then sprinkled one pack of sweetener around the anthill.
Within a few minutes the ants were boiling out to grab the sweetener and take it down into the hole.
This morning I checked again. There were some ants, but not as many.
This afternoon I checked again. I waited for a few minutes and saw one (1) ant.
Looks like this stuff works!
I will be trying on more ant hills and will report back.
