[quote:Anonymous Coward 42109917:MV8yODg3Mzg1XzUwODY3Njg0X0VBMzI0NjU0] You are certainly right on except much caution is advised in regards to the idea of praying/speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues was something that happened in the book of acts once on the day of Pentecost when the new believers were talking in other ACTUAL languages. (acts 2:6) And as for 1 Cor 14:2 Gill's exposition on the Bible gives clarification. "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue,.... Or with tongues, as some copies and the Ethiopic version read: Dr. Lightfoot thinks, that the Hebrew tongue, which was become a dead language, and understood but by few, is here meant, and that not without reason; seeing the public prayers, preaching, and singing of psalms among the Jews, were in this languages (x); in imitation of whom, such ministers, who had the gift of speaking this language, read the Scriptures, preached, prayed, and sung psalms in it, which were no ways to the edification of the people, who understood it not; upon which account the apostle recommends prophesying, praying, and singing, in a language that was understood" I once heard a story of someone who was "speaking in tongues" as it's called in the charismatic world, and someone else heard the individual and explained to them how they actually were cursing God in some native language. Here's some more info: http://www.gotquestions.org/gift-of-tongues.html And if you claim it to be anything else, please share and elaborate with scriptural evidence.
There is peace, joy, and love when one abides in Jesus Christ.
It's the only way, people.
Look, you want to know the secret to getting through what's coming? Believe in Jesus, repent of your sins and start walking out your relationship, and pray to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and begin praying in tongues an hour plus a day.
Praying in tongues stirs up the Holy Spirit within the believer and builds them up strong to get through difficult situations.
It's God's gift to Christians. It's kind of like a way to soothe your soul in the midst of trouble.
But there's more, as it will also bring forth revelatory understanding of the scriptures and the supernatural power of God will flow easier through you.
