[quote:Anonymous Coward 62819216:MV8yOTcxNjgwXzUyNTY2OTI3XzIwMzVEMTVD] If the media quit making these shooting national news, and just reported locally on it, the number of these mass shootings would diminish greatly. [/quote]

With all the stories here on GLP about the shooter, lets take time to think about the people who tried to help stop him. This article poignantly asserts that we give too much credit to shooters. We give them power when we allow them their 5 minutes of "fame" or being in the "limelight". We need to stop talking about the shooter and start talking about the hero who potentially saved other people with his quick thinking and disregard for his own safety. Would you act so courageously if in this situation?
Here is a snipet, see link for full article which is worth the read....
"Forget the 26-year-old zero who murdered 10 innocents at Umpqua Community College on Thursday morning.
The one to remember is 30-year-old Chris Mintz, the student and Army vet who was shot at least five times while charging straight at the gunman in an effort to save others.
Mintz did so on the sixth birthday of his son, Tyrik."
