NORTHFIELD, Vt. —Emergency crews are on the scene of a train derailment outside Montpelier.
First responders said several cars of an Amtrak train derailed in the area of Route 12A and Bull Run Road in Northfield.
The train derailed about 10:30 Monday morning.
State officials have partially activated the emergency management center. A representative said a full upgrade would be possible if necessary.
Montpelier fire officials told CNN two train cars went over an embankment. It was not clear how steep the embankment was.
There was no immediate word on injuries.
