There’s now proof to suggest the ‘beast of Cumbria’ really does exist.
For weeks, there have been reports of a panther-like creature spotted in the Lake District and a former police chief claims to have a snap of it.
Kevin Pitt, 63, a former chief superintendent with Cleveland Constabulary, took this photo of the mysterious black animal near Eden.
Mr Pitt, who has seen many wild cats during his time living in Zambia and South Africa, claimed: ‘I know quite a lot about cats. I have dogs and cats, you can tell them apart by the way they walk. I can say 100 per cent that it was a big cat.
