'To burn the candle at both ends' is associated with someone who indulges in excesses or leads a disorganized life. Even if people know and use this expression, they are not very careful with the use of their energies and, in a way, most of them burn the candle at both ends. They think that their energies are inexhaustible and will be replaced automatically. Actually a few elements can be replaced; cosmic intelligence has built the human body in such a manner as to repair some energy losses as it goes along. But if man does not live reasonably, the losses are irreparable. Someone who leads a disorganized and passionate life loses his most precious energies, and not only does he deprive his psychic and spiritual bodies of food but he even weakens his physical body.
