[quote:jake:MV8zNjEyNjA1XzY0NDgzNTk1XzY5M0E2MDg1] Greg Besiryan · Engineer at U.S. Navy I have to disagree with you. When entering a port the ship is put in a special watch detail which every sailor on the ship participates in. I highly doubt every sailor was sleeping on watch. These straights are extremely busy and all captains know this and take further precautions. Before blaming the crew you should have a little understanding of how things work. And the location of impact indicates the navy is unlikely to be at fault. [/quote]
From that pic you can tell the McCain was dead in the water. There is no shear damage from a ship under power. It was a direct hit ! The McCain would have been under full power to get out of the way of a ship that was 4 times it's size. It was also full daylight as far as I know. No shear no power. Look at where the "V" shaped part of the haul hit the war ship. Not one inch of shear.
