This new ESO (European Southern Observatory) announcement
was well anticipated and created quite a buzz on the net
the past few days. Many had hoped for a confirmation on
the theories circulating about "Nibiru/Planet X" (who
were disappointed)...some--like myself--had hoped they
would enlarge upon (and give proper credit to) the theories
by Dr. Paul LaViolette on Galactic Super Wave Cycles.
(See his "Earth Under Fire"--a must read on the subject.)

This was one of their announcements in 2015 that caused
a huge paradigm-shift in the Astronomy community. (I'm
NOT sure exactly why...but you can read about it in the
link below:)

More coming as news reports enlarge on this announcement.

QUOTE [less than 50%]
ESO’s fleet of telescopes in Chile have detected the first visible
counterpart to a gravitational wave source. These historic observations
suggest that this unique object is the result of the merger of two
neutron stars. The cataclysmic aftermaths of this kind of merger
— long-predicted events called kilonovae — disperse heavy elements
such as gold and platinum throughout the Universe.

While some were expecting something "earth shattering" this morning
with the ESO's announcement...It's not bad news at least.
