Original Message
The Daily Caller now reports that the FBI says that they “failed to preserve” five months of text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page in a letter sent by the Department of Justice to the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Assistant Attorney General for Legislative Affairs at the Justice Department Stephen Boyd, wrote to Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), the chairman of HSGAC that “The Department wants to bring to your attention that the FBI’s technical system for retaining text messages sent and received on FBI mobile devices failed to preserve text messages for Mr. Strzok and Ms. Page.”
The missing text messages span the 5-month period between December 14, 2016 and May 17, 2017. Several highly significant actions by the FBI took place during this time period, and text messages between Peter Strzok and Lisa Page would be almost certain to shed light on whether or not those critical actions were rooted in a political agenda. For instance, on January 24, 2016 Peter Strzok conducted an informal interview with General Michael Flynn, who was President Trump’s National Security Advisor at the time. General Flynn pled guilty to Lying to a Federal Agent during that January 24th interview with Strzok, who was then the Deputy Head of Counterintelligence for the FBI.
