I need to break my sugar/carb addiction. I have had enough with my fat ass.
Yes. Both me and my wife did this for 4 months. It is the hardest diet I've ever done in my life, to do it correctly that is. I was at 23 carbs a day. That is fucking difficult. You only count net carbs (e.g. not sugar alcohols or fiber) but there are carbs in anything and everything. Even things like low carb vegetables can only be eaten in very small quantities. You have to increase fat, which is hard to do at the correct ratios. You end up making things like "fat bombs" out of coconut oil and such. Eating out is very difficult, even when modifying the menu, any slightly being "off" in what you think it is (whether published or other) can kick you out. You need to ensure that you are in ketosis, or it is pointless, so you'll need a keto meter measures your ketone levels like blood sugar, only one or two people on amazon sell the strips and they are expensive. You will lose weight and have more energy, but you will lose any pleasure from eating food. You substitue things like coconut flour and almond flour, etc... however the texture of everything becomes one dimensional. Some people live their lives doing it, but I do not see it as being a sustainable diet in anyway. You can try it, but it takes a shit load of commitment. I quit, and would NEVER do it again. Lots of benefits, but it does have a psychological and neurochemical affect.
I've done it for two years and feel great. It is sustainable, just have to think differently. Last night I went to a party that had a taco bar, just took the meat, lettuce, onion, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream in a cup and ate it no problem. What other diet let you eat bacon and eggs ? My blood work is great, my energy levels are great, and I look great. My wife hated it at first but you have to admit fatty things taste good and she doesn't complain about it anymore since she understands how to cook for me now.
