Original Message There must be a huge and significant technology about to come to the forefront for there to be justification for a new branch of military service?

I imagine the branches were fighting over who is going to primarily field the new weapons systems and that created the need for a Space Force similar to the advent of the Air Force out of the need to separate the Air defense from a ground based Army.

New Space ship? Alien contact a threat?

I cannot imagine a need to create a new defense branch solely for satellites.

Will we see the launch of a Space Carrier or other technology leap?

Military versions of Lockheed and SpaceX new manned space craft?
