Seems we have some information on this strange shutdown of the observatories.
Those whom monitor the sun via telescopes and online information, IE solar storms and space weather know that these objects have been seen many times in the past, here's new video on a possible explanation:

CCD images can produce some strange artifacts when imaging is on going so these might just be that. Even Teide (Canary Islands) solar scope is down because of weather related problems, so only citizen telescopes with the right filters can image now..anyone have the right equipment??
