[quote:Cardiak:MV8zOTEwMzMwXzcwNTE2OTc4XzlBRDkwMTNB] [quote:curry nosher:MV8zOTEwMzMwXzcwNTE2NDM1Xzg4REMyQkQw] [quote:Cardiak:MV8zOTEwMzMwXzcwNTE2MTEzXzU1NDIyRThD] My drone is the Mavic 2 zoom it weighs about as much as an Apple can fly about 2000 feet high and has a range of about 5 miles from the controller and will fly for about 25 minutes and basically flies at south to text any obstacle’s can track and follow people Auto stabilizers itself and its camera automatically flies home and lands at south on command or if it ever loses contact with the controller And is viewable through wireless VR goggles for an immersive experience flying in HD. I agree it’s bullshit that’s such a tiny little toy requires this. If this ever hit an airplane or helicopter it would be like a bug hitting your car
That sounds pretty awesome tbf mate :hf: I had no idea they could fly so far away and so that just backs up my theory about why they are suddenly wanting to restrict them - too much they want to hide imo and they are hard to spot sometimes and i guess on some level they could be considered a security risk in wrong hands? Not that i agree with this restriction stuff as i would buy one if i could.
I will admit, the future of drones is scary. The next decade or two will likely see a big influx of drone assassinations once people start deploying guns or explosives to these guys. I was blown away when I got mine and saw how stable it is, it basically flies itself. Can take it to the beach in extreme winds and it just hovers staticly and the camera self levels so you have no idea the drone is actually sitting at a 30 degree angle fighting against 45 mph winds its all extremely smooth and viewed through 1080x1920 HD goggles. Can zoom 4x, can highlight people on the controllers display and it will target you and automatically follow where ever you go and keep you in the shot. If you jumped on a jetski or a motorcycle it would follow and dodge any obstacles to keep you in its tracking. It auto detects any objects above beside or below it and reacts and dodges it unless you are in sports mode. It goes 32 MPH in regular mode and 45MPH in sports. Mine has a fishing mod built onto it so I can connect my line and fly it out about 800 yards which is the max my reel will hold and drop chunks in the ocean to catch tuna and occasional sharks. This thing cost less then $2000 so I cant imagine the kind of shit the government or big money people have. A terrorist organization or simply an assassin could easily take one of these make it a bit larger to carry a larger payload or weapon and take a target out from extreme distances which is frightening when you think about it. A bill close to passage in Congress would repeal the current exemption for hobbyists from regulations and for the first time require them to take a test before flying. It also says such operators must fly no higher than 400 feet and stay clear of traditional aircraft. They may have to eventually install radio identification signals on the devices.

Maybe we could get some GLPers to contact Congress to vote against this bill.
