Time for something different.
Nobody knows how to make a good horror movie anymore. The post production alone, kills any kind of vibe or atmosphere. too polished and glitzy
I agree. Modern filmmakers have confused horror with gore, crossing over too much into the slasher genre. They think more blood and guts is going to scare people. I prefer the old creepy, suspenseful horror movies, made when the directors understood that the imagination can conjure up more horror than anything shown on film. SPOILER ALERT: I can think of a modern example of when it was done right. In the pilot episode of "The Walking Dead" (I really miss Darabont), Rick was in a dark stairwell with nothing but a book of matches to light his way. He kept striking up matches, and every time a match went out, he was plunged into complete darkness. Whenever he lit up a new match, I was hanging onto the edge of my chair, expecting to see something monstrous right behind him. It never happened, but it didn't need to in order to scare me.
Ghost Story (1981) true horror movie ! reliant on telling a good story, not blood and guts
