"NAPLES, Fla. — Republican Ron DeSantis on Tuesday defied nearly every poll with a narrow victory over Democrat Andrew Gillum in Florida's race for governor.

DeSantis, a former House lawmaker, conservative and staunch supporter of President Trump, will succeed GOP Gov. Rick Scott.
