Use Xylitol, it is a natural green plant and trees derived sugar 'alcohol' instead of other sugar substitutes because it is far less dangerous than onthers and tastes nearly exactly like sugar. But be very careful not to let your pets eat any of it, it carshes their endochrine system due to a sugar overload and can kill them but not humans, it is 100% safe. I use xylitol based syrup on all my pancakes and waffles and in the rare occasion that I make ice cream. Carbs are bad, fats are good. The fat in the cream is actually good for you, but if you add sugar, it becomes lethal, as do most carbs + sugar combinations. Xylitol is delicious and does not spike blood sugar levels like real sugar does. So does maltitol, but it and other sugar alcohols have more calories. Try it.
I have waldens syrup, it uses sucraclose. what brand do you have? I can go pick some up today if I can find it.
You have to order it online (look up the cheapest price and find wholesalers all over the place), otherwise, you'll pay a hefty price for it at a retailer. They hike up the price like 200% I made an entire chocolate cake out of nothing but eggs, non-gluten flour (which I also ordered online, lots of companies) and Xylitol. NO ONE could believe it wasn't a regular, sugary, creamy chocolate cake, it was DIET chocolate cake that tasted like real chocolate cake because of the Xylitol. But be careful with the pets, don't give them anything you make with Xylitol. Sugar is bad enough and can also do a lot of damage to pets and even kill them but Xylitol is like a concentration of sugar that they really cannot handle. There are also several Xylitol desserts cook/chefs blogs online, if you look it up. Good luck.
normally the recipe calls for the flavoring, heavy whipping cream and 1/2 a can of condensed milk.
what if I substitute the condensed milk with sugar free syrup, maple flavored, will that work? or is there something in the condensed milk that I need for ice cream?
