[quote:Housedad:MV8zOTQyMjg0XzcxMjI1Nzg4X0FDMjg2RUJB] All we had to do was continue to carpet bomb Hanoi for another week and they would have given up. That was admitted by the top general in the North Vietnamese army long after the war was over. Nixon gave in one goddamn week early. Fucking hippies and Walter Cronkite pushed the end to the bombing. Assholes. Them and LBJ turned it all into a shitshow and Nixon was trying to finish it off. [/quote]

Instead of sending troops to just defend South Vietnam, we should have sent in a whole invasion force to take over North Vietnam. Like what we did in the Korean war. Then as soon as we overthrow the government in North Vietnam, we should have handed control of it over to the South and then immediately left the area. I know many were opposed to the war, but since we entered it, we should have been in it to win and have a winning strategy beforehand.
