This means you would need 70-100 an hr to be prepared for your failing health. Once you hit 35 and your blood pressure hits either number over 140/90 you can kiss it good bye. Better to get a trade skill and never go into transportation. I'm taking the time to tell young guys/gals before they spend tons of money on college and truck driving schools. These new rules make it a pointless career at current wages.
Link to these new rules, as you call them?
I Just told you. The Blood pressure rule for one makes it not worth it.Truck drivers after 20 years will have one of the numbers above the level. Doctor said you get 1 year , then after that if either number is still high it goes to a 3 month certification.Truck driving is a very unhealthy job and it doesn't pay enough to waste the time from the start.A young man or woman should find a better career choice.Wish I had.
In Texas, it is 2 year, 1 year or 6 months certification, but doctors usually work with you. Some Docs will allow people the lay there and rest until they get a low enough reading on your BP to meet the minimum standards. And what about the larger than 17 inch neck thing? I know very few drivers that were actually documented as such even though they clearly exceeded it.
