Original Message Authorities are tracking “multiple bomb threats” emailed to Massachusetts businesses.

Massachusetts State Police said Thursday afternoon they are investigating threats that were sent to “numerous” businesses. The agency said similar threats have been received in other states.

Several bomb threats are being investigated in Des Moines and Nevada but police believe they are hoaxes.

Sgt. Paul Parizek with the Des Moines Police Department says they’re received reports that threats were e-mailed Thursday to the Science Center of Iowa, Eyerly Ball, Joseph’s Jewelers, and the Blank Park Zoo. The e-mail demands money.

Park City, West Valley, South Salt Lake, South Jordan, Murray, Draper, Cache County and Dixie State University in St. George have all received threats, according to various law enforcement agencies and dispatchers.

DeKalb County Schools is investigating a series of bomb threats against five schools -- including Dunwoody High School, Dunwoody Elementary, Vanderlyn Elementary, Chestnut Elementary and Montgomery Elementary.

Bomb threats were reported from both the Guardian Building and the Wayne County Treasurer's Office, Detroit Police confirmed.

Both buildings were evacuated briefly at about 2:15 but were given the all-clear about a half-hour later.

Police in Garden City and Boise are responding to bomb threats at three local businesses.

The first two threats were made via email, an Ada County emergency dispatcher said. The reports of the threats came in within minutes of each other, around 11:20 a.m.

“There’s people that are receiving an email with a bomb threat if they don’t send money,” a dispatcher said.

Police are addressing multiple bomb threats in the Chicago area Thursday afternoon as other threats surfaced nationwide.
