Original Message Those poor PC folks from the Victorian Police are suffering a bit of cognitive dissonance after ethnic Vietnamese business owners in Melbourne are shown on video defending their businesses by brawling with a marauding gang of African youths.

They didn't expect the seemingly peace-loving Vietnamese community to do jack shit against these marauding criminals, but they forgot to factor in the Vietnamese psyche when it comes to these sorts of things. Vietnamese take it very personally and they have zero cultural aversion to visiting violence upon those who have wronged them regardless of the legality.

"In Australia “vigilantism” has been very deliberately conflated with anything self-defence related. Self-defence is seen as “vigilantism” that should only be left to the “professionals” and we can’t have that because something something America. Only people in uniform can protect themselves, anything else is considered vigilantism and we don’t cowboys and yahoos taking the law into their own hands, etc. This cultural meme is absurd and needs to end."
