A shooting light, believed to be a meteor shower or comet, has shot across the Bay of Plenty, lighting up the sky.
The shooting star was first seen on Saturday night, shortly after 8.58pm, and was visible for several minutes. It was seen as far as Taupo with reports coming in from Waikato and Auckland.
