Rats are minging but boy you guys are blinkered sometimes.
[quote:clock:MV8zOTU2OTI1XzcxNTI2NjMzX0Y3MzU4N0ND] I suppose all counties have a certain type of dish that others would baulk at, so it swings in roundabouts.
It's gross, but people survive on whatever they can. You'd think in this day and age people would have other choices, but who knows. We could just as well post videos of African bush meat markets, Icelandic fermented shark and sheep head, a Philippines market where the meat is covered in flies, etc. Heck, my parents went to Portugal and saw an octopus drying in the sun that a cat was licking, like outside an eatery.
You have to get up early to go to the pelenke (wet market) so you can buy freshly slaughtered pork (baboy) and chicken (manok). Much healthier than buying at supermarkets in US where factory meats are processed with ammonia.
This is true about any market in the world. And don't forget the bleach they use on meats.
It's amazing how our ancestors survived without refrigeration. Slaughtered meat hung up and caked with salt to preserve it. They'd slice off a chunk, soak it in water before cooking it. Imagine pioneers migrating West along the Oregon Trail during the 19th century. Once the electricity goes out, that's what life will be like. Those the don't improvise, adapt and overcome will die within the first month.
