My first forester had it and my newer one now does not. This is also an option: https://www.amazon.com/Alphatherm-AT-38OD-Windshield-Washer-Heater/dp/B0034GW1WW It's a heater you install between the washer fluid reservoir and the sprayers. heats the fluid up to 125-135 degrees before spraying it on the windshield. From my research, cracking the windshield is not a problem, unless the windshield is already damaged. [/quote]

When it is to snow I see people put the wiper arms up in the air. This is a bad practice. Most of the time they do not freeze to the window as there is no ice.
I never do that as it stretches the spring. Some leave them raised for a week or more. I check when I go to the car after a snow. I start the car and turn on the rear defroster and the heater with the fan on high in the defrost mode.
I then clean off the car and dig the car out. If it was frozen it is thawed by the time I am done.
Something that can also be done is to take a small piece of wood, say 1" square and place under the wiper arm to lift the blade off the window. This is better for the spring and it keeps the blade form getting stuck.
That spring is the only thing pulling the wiper arm down on the window.
Your thoughts on this please.
