Food, seeds, heat, sanitation, sewing and, hopefully communication. I'll know Saturday about the last.
I've got a perma-grin today, Picked up a Yaesu FT900 with power supply, hand microphone, iambic key, antenna switch/surge arrestor and antenna for $300.
Nice, you and I know we radio operators will keep communicating long after the internet, cell towers and digital police radios go down. A simple faraday cage for the radio and an EMP filter on the antenna lead for even the worst case senarios(EMP/CME).
The antenna is set up running east to west at about 20 feet right now, it's a temporary situation until I can switch to a north-south orientation at maybe twice that height. I'm gunning for a net tonight if I can hear it.
Continuation of another thread of wonderful people with the best ever ideas for practical prepping even for those with little money.
We discuss power outages including CME and EMP, heating and cooking methods, first aid, foods; we run disaster scenarios to see if we know what to do.
This is probably the only prepping thread a person would need, whether long-time prepper here to share, or newbie prepper here to learn and everyone in between.
