All street fights end up on the ground in less than 10 seconds. I boxed competitively for 6 years. Got in at least 10 fist fights before I graduated HS. Went to a mixed school. Boxing is pretty much worthless in a real fight. Wrestling is probably one of the most important skills you’ll need in a real fight. But it should be combined with skills from other techniques. It is why Krav Maga is superior. It teaches you last resort methods. My qualifying test in Krav had 3 instructors attack me with knives. I had to take their weapons and deliver death blows to each of them and do it in about 3 seconds. If you have no formal fight experience then Krav Maga will take awhile to really button down. Most dudes in my Krav class already had black belts. Krav is the perfect compliment to an already accomplished fighter. But it’s still good for the wanna be. Another good method is Filipino Stick Fighting with Open Hand Aspect. You’ve prolly seen this method in the Jason borne movies. I took some private lessons from the guy who choreographed the fight scenes in that movie. At the time he was the only instructor in the US and just happened to live in my home town of Traverde City. In the very end though, if you aren’t naturally a vicious fighter, then no skill will save you. Since I was a kid, time would slow down for me in a fight. Or I’d see everything in slow motion while the speed of my mind remained quick. I remember my first fight and thinking this is too easy. I could see my opponent’s punch coming in slow motion and had time to consider different moves I might want to do. It was this natural ability that propelled me into competitive fighting from early on in my childhood. In HS I’d get in fights with the blacks and basically just toy with them as I chopped their face up like wet meat.
What martial art really works in the real world, as opposed to stylish stuff shown in the movies?
