This is important. Could be gas been released from the fault areas as it moves a little. Does it smell like sulfur or natural gas?
Personally speaking and as one that smells it often, It's been going on for many months now. Sometimes it smells like sulfur and sometimes like garbage. It mainly happens in the overnight hours and sometimes will linger into the morning. The odor has been blamed on a dumping site accross the river, but no one really has given us a definitive answer yet. I'll try and find some of our local articles and will post. Edited for links: https://www.wwltv.com/article/news/local/jefferson-parish-residents-say-mysterious-odor-is-making-them-sick/289-573667614 https://deq.louisiana.gov/page/river-ridge-harahan-odor-issue "Canister samples collected during an odor incident April 27-May 2 showed readings of hydrogen sulfide and methane (landfill gases) that were elevated above background levels but not in concentrations that are harmful to human health. Extensive sampling by LDEQ personnel in the area indicates Jefferson Parish Landfill is the major source of the odors but the Department continues to investigate other possible contributing sources." You don't have to look far on social media to find people talking about loud, strong, bright booms reported in and around New Orleans and other places.
