I have skills in construction, handyman/maintenance work and food service jobs, cooking, sous chef, kitchen prep. I'm a hard worker, that's never been the issue. Wherever I end up, I'll find a job to keep staying afloat.
You might consider New Mexico. It's inexpensive to live here, at least out of the big cities it is. I can't write the name of the town wherein I live because GLP changes it to something weird, but here's a link-- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Altap dancerordo,_New_Mexico Nobody bothers you, if you don't want to be bothered. There are no EQs, no tornadoes, no hurricanes, no volcanoes. We do have a windy season, but that's about the worst. The water is of course terrible, but I just fill up jugs. Of course it gets hot as hell in June/July, but that's the worst of the heat. It rarely snows, and the winters are mild compared to elsewhere. It is a liberal State, but like I said, if you don't bother anyone, they don't bother you. You could definitely find a job here, given what you've said your skill set is. I've lived here over four years, and I really like it here. I'm 60, though, and just like the quiet life. If you like to bar hop, then this isn't the place for you....lol, there is only one bar. I've never been, so I can't say anything about that. Do some research about the area....I mean, there's Las Cruces, Ruidoso, and Roswell, too. I wouldn't want to live in Las Cruces, though, too many people for me, but it's where I do most of my shopping. I'm very happy here in "Alamo".....:hf:
A very beloved friend of the family moved to New Mexico long ago and loved it, died peacefully there, happy and content with the life changes she made in her old age. I avoid bars like the plague honestly. If I want to enjoy a cold beer I'd rather sip it on my front porch or over a nice campfire. New Mexico sounds quite lovely and I don't think it would be as expensive on the greyhound not like going halfway across the country to cali or oregon. I appreciate the suggestion! (by the way this is CM, CG. dont have a paid acct anymore) hope you're well though nice to see you on my thread.
CM?....I don't know what that is for the full name. But, SEE! You'd have a friend here!....:cheer:
I've had a few handful of accounts on here. Christopher Michael? Publican was one of my main ones? Idk different names. Haha but yeah we've exchanged PM's a bit before. GLP helped my mom out quite a bit when she got diagnosed with colon cancer. Idk if any of thats ringing a bell.
Publican does, it rings a bell. I was just looking through my PMs as it would be....holy kwap, I've got a looong list of them. Harhar, I need to clean that up a bit!l There's a whole load of PMs there.....:1rof1: Well, if you do decide to move here, please get hold of me on here. I'm always around, most of the time, when I'm not working. At the very least, I check in every day. In fact, I have this thread personally pinned, so I would see if you posted on there, okay? https://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message3253910/pg1
Kind of an embarrassing question but do you know if there's any homeless shelters or missions there in your city where I could stay temporarily to conserve the funds I have saved up and find work and maybe look into getting into housing or find a cheap room for rent? I don't know if im able to do this and the mods might delete the post or something but shoot me an email at cmmrq at protonmail dot com because I dont have a glp account anymore to private message but I keep looking at the pictures online especially of the white sands and the space museum and all kinds of things looks like it'd be worth visiting and who knows maybe stay a while? I'm going to comment on your wave thread, lots of reading but this is right up my alley. Thanks friend.
I have family and friends in New Mexico. They love it. If you don’t work in a national park then go there. Hawaii sounds extreme. Boring there to just get stuck homeless with no job.
Original Message
I have a little over a thousand bucks saved up and I know in the grand scheme of things that isn't much but I want to use it to get a Greyhound ticket somewhere that is vagrant/homeless friendly, maybe buy a tent, rent a spot in some national forest maybe or find a work exchange program (preferably not a left-leaning commune) but I do not fit into society anymore and there is nothing left here but pain and I need to get away before I drive myself more crazy. Any pointers? I'm in Texas right now but ready to move just about anywhere.
