How the fuck are there any holocaust survivors left to complain? The war ended in 1945. They’d have to have been infants at the time to still be alive. There are barely any Vietnam vets left FFS. Seriously, a hundred fucking years from now there will still be holocaust survivors somwhere complaining.
The last American WWI veteran just died in 2011 at the age of 110. Hell my mother will be 90 this year... she was 16 in 1945, the year WWII ended. A quick search on how many American WWII vets are still alive shows that in September 2018 there were still 496,777. That is half a million Americans who were adults and served during WWII are still alive. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/war/wwii-veteran-statistics
So....how did these people survive if it was a Holocaust? I thought they were all wiped out. Educate us oh educated one?
Interesting question Lance. If you were telling the truth your grandfather (great grandfather?) was a Jewish Holocaust survivor complete with a tattoo. Your story was that he got the tattoo from the work camps. Many like him escaped the Holocaust by working. Some were skilled labor but many were just doing manual labor and many died due to the poor conditions in the camps. Overall the Nazis captured 15 to 20 million people to be used like your grandfather as slave labor. Most Jewish Holocaust survivors were in a slave labor camp of some sort. Others survived by hiding until the war was over or fleeing Europe altogether. The story OP posted started with a visit to a school by Anne Frank's stepsister. Both were captured as teenage girls and sent to a Nazi slave labor camp. Anne Frank eventually died of disease since she was sent to Bergen-Belsen which had a major Typhus epidemic while this other woman stayed at Auschwitz. You never told us about your grandfather's family. Is he the only one in that branch of the family who survived? Many families only had 1 or 2 members survive.
I'm guessing you're posing that question to me? Grandparents were Polish Catholic. I didn't say they were gassed, many definitely kicked the bucket in there. Grandfather was captured and spent the war in labor camps building wood-frame structures, picking onions, and drying mushrooms in the rafters. His two sisters, and parents were never accounted for but his brother eventually surfaced years later. My grandmother lost both parents and eight siblings in a combination of disease and worked to death in a camp of some description that was eventually liberated. I can't speak for the Jewish experience and frankly (Anne Frankly) it pisses me the fuck off none of you realize how many fucking Poles weren't Jewish and still died in the camps. Not to mention every other non-aryan ethnic group in the region at the time.
I do know that - estimated two million Polish people who were not Jewish at the hands of Nazis. That is a tragic and painful family history.
My grandfather spent his later years drinking homemade wine together with Germans, Jewishes (thx glp), Ukrainians, Italians, and everyone else who got caught up in that bloody mess. tbh they all found common ground by bitching about the Russians
it is interesting that Elie Weasels tattoo washed off in the shower, check his forearms. A holocaust is a religious animal sacrifice consumed by fire.....
Nobody asked for our input on the name, and the 3rd reach didn't tattoo every jackass they rounded up either.
your point being? the third reach around you mean??
It's a typo. Don't pretend to be retarded, it doesn't help your point.
chill, just trying to bring a little humour to a topic that is over played and laden with emotion. lots of people die in wars, humans can be cruel,, and the holocaust definition is the first line on wiki, not my words
Flyers with Nazi swastikas were posted at a California school just days after a Holocaust survivor shared her firsthand horrors with students who had posted anti-Semitic photographs during a party.
Ten flyers were discovered at Newport Harbor High School on Sunday morning. Police were called and the flyers were removed. While posting the flyers is not a crime, Newport Beach police are investigating.
School principal Sean Boulton said in a statement: "Again we condemn all acts of anti-Semitism and hate in all their forms. We will continue to be vigilant with our stance, and the care of our students and staff."
But one senior at the school, Max Drakeford, called the latest episode "super disheartening -- a step backward."
Drakeford, whose grandmother survived the Holocaust, said the posters "send a message that we aren't welcome at our own school."
