[quote:WindowGardener:MV8zOTk5NTI2XzcyMzk2MjI1XzczOURDMTZG] [quote:Anonymous Coward 77212955:MV8zOTk5NTI2X0M4QzM0M0Iw] The frequency of personality disorders in patients with gender identity disorder https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4301205/
Quoting from the paper cited: "The patients were admitted to the outpatient sex clinic in Tehran Institute of Psychiatry, Tehran, Iran between October 2006 and March 2007. "The patients were evaluated by two senior psychiatrists of Iran University of Medical Sciences faculty who had special interest in this area." A homosexual person in Iran may be executed by hanging if they engaging in homosexual sexual activities. The Iranian government allows sex change operations in order to help a person with such attractions to comply with Iranian (Shariah) law. So a person in Iran may be under more pressure to seek a sex change than a person in a country where homosexual sex is not illegal.
The American man who previously identified as transgender and became the first to obtain non-binary status in the eyes of law says he made a mistake.
Jamie Shupe, a retired US Army veteran, made headlines four years ago when he chronicled his change from a man to a woman in The New York Times. Then a year later, Shupe stood before a judge in Oregon who agreed to let him identify as a third sex, neither male nor female.
