"HPV rates tumble after routine vaccination
HPV immunisation of 12 and 13-year-old girls has led to 89% decline in disease in Scotland, data reveals

A new study in the British Medical Journal has found a huge drop in the proportions of vaccinated women aged 20 detected at screening with cervical disease – the abnormal cells and lesions that are the precursor of cancer.

The researchers found an 89% drop in the numbers of those with the most severe levels of disease, called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia or CIN.
...
There was a bigger decline in disease among those vaccinated at the age of 12 or 13 (89%) than in those vaccinated at 17 (51%).
...
But there was also a drop in the levels of disease among women who have not been vaccinated, which suggests a “herd immunity” effect, say the authors – because there has been less HPV virus in the community.
...
But in the long term, it may be that “two or three screens in a lifetime using HPV testing might be sufficient,” the paper said. “Ultimately, the clinical and economic rationale for cervical screening will need to be reviewed.”"

130,000 women screened.
Note the 89% drop in pre-cancerous CIN3 or greater cells indicating a similar drop can be expected in cervical cancers.
Note also that there was an unexplained drop in cervical disease (CIN) in unvaccinated women indicating that herd immunity is taking effect.
Overall this is more very good news for women and for everyone.
At some point in the future we may see cervical cancer become almost unknown across the world.
.
Cervical cancer was once (pre 1950) a leading cause of death for US women but with the introduction of the Pap smear, which tests for CIN cells as done in this study, it has fallen to 14th place killing ~ 4,000 US women each year.
Cervical cancer kills ~ 300,000 women each year in the world.

I think most sane women would agree that a world where having constant Pap smears and then having ablative or loop treatments or hysterectomies due to pre cancerous cells/cervical cancer and sweating out the rest of your life is something "devoutly to be wished".
Get your kids vaccinated and yourself if you qualify... it is an anti-cancer vaccine.

Have fun and stay safe.
